Today is Monday, September 28th, and the scripture to reflect on is Luke 9:48.
And said to them, Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me.
For he who is least among you all is the one who is great.
Jesus calls us to serve much in life.
Those who don’t have power, popularity, or lots of friends or money.
This means serving those in need, showing kindness to those who are often overlooked, and loving those who are difficult to love.
By doing this, we show our love and devotion to Jesus himself.
How does serving others show your love and devotion to Jesus?
Jesus is saying that how we treat others is a direct reflection of how we treat him.
Showing love and care for others, no matter who they are, makes you more like him.
Today’s Saint of the Day is Saint Wenceslaus, who was born 907 and died 935.
He is the patron saint of Bohemia.
The young prince praised God even when it was difficult.
Wenceslaus’s faithful mother taught him about Jesus when he was young, and he was sent to study at a university.
He was trained to be a truly Christian prince.
Even though Wenceslaus lost both his grandmother and his father when he was still young, he was determined to hope in God and serve the faithful king and leader to his country, Bohemia.
Many people who believed in false gods, including Wenceslaus’s mother, wanted the country to be ruled by a different king.
Even so, Wenceslaus modeled hope in God for his people, attending to the needs of the poor, finding time to pray in the church, and choosing to worship Jesus only.
Saint Wenceslaus is the subject of the Christmas carol Good King Wenceslaus, which is traditionally sung the day after Christmas.

Dear God, help us to show love and care for others, no matter who they are, and help me to praise you anyway, even when life is difficult.
Saint Wenceslaus, pray for us.
