Let’s get started.
Today is Friday, September 25th, and the scripture to reflect on is Luke 9:20.
And he said to them, But who do you say that I am?
And Peter answered, The Christ of God.
Today’s Gospel made me think of a song I like to listen to.
It’s called Rescuer by Rend Collective.
There are two lines in that song that I thought of: The good Lord is the way, the truth, and the life, and The good Lord has come to seek and save.
Did you know that the Gospel means good news, and good news has a name: Jesus Christ.
He came down from heaven to rescue each one of us.
He came to change us.
He came down to lift us up.
That’s why I thought of the song, The Rescuer, when Jesus says, Who do the crowds say that I am?
Today’s saints of the day is Saint Louise and Zelie Martin.
Louise was born in 1823 and died in 1894, and Zelie was born in 1831 and died in 1877.
They are the patron saints of France.
Louise was a watchmaker and Zelie was a lace maker.
When Louise asked to become a monk, he was turned away from the monastery.
When Zelie tried to become a nun, she wasn’t accepted either.
God had a different plan for their lives, a plan that included their marriage.
One day in their small French town, Louise and Zelie walked over the same bridge in opposite directions.
When Louise passed by Zelie, believed she had heard God say, That is him.
This is the one whom you shall marry.
As a married couple, Louise and Zelie were dedicated to their faith and dedicated to their children, whom they taught about Jesus.
Louise and Zelie had nine children.
Five of their daughters became nuns, and their youngest daughter was Therese of Lisieux, who would write beautiful words about the love of Jesus, a love she had learned about her faithful parents.
And Saint Louise and Zelie Martin are the first married couple to be canonized together without any companions.

Dear God, thank you for being the way, the truth, and the life for all of us to follow you.
And your plans for Saint Louise and Zelie Martin were better than their own plans.
Help me to trust your plan always.
