Hello everyone.
Hey yo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where we read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.
Let’s get started.
Today is Tuesday, September 22nd, and the scripture to reflect on is Luke 8:21.
But he said to them, ‘My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and do it.’ Does your family send out Christmas cards during the holiday season?
Do you take a fancy picture and sign your names on the card, wishing all your friends and family happy holidays, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year?
What if all of us who are a part of Jesus’s family took a big family photo and all signed our names?
Funny to imagine how many people would be in that photo and how many signatures there would be.
Phew! Every family has its own kind of culture.
Your family has a certain way of doing things or traditions that might have for a holiday.
Everyone has its own personality, and everyone is different.
But no matter what your families on Earth are like, we can all be a part of Jesus’s family.
Jesus wants us in his family.
We are all in Jesus’s family through Jesus, and when we’re in his family, we know that Jesus loves us.
Today’s Saint of the Day is Saint Padre Pio.
He was born 1887 and died 1968.
He is the patron saint of Italy and stress relief.
Pio was a priest called Padre Pio, who by those who loved him.
He was adored around the world during his lifetime.
This beloved priest encouraged people to pray, hope, and not to worry about anything.
He believed in choosing faith over worry, even though he could have worried about many things.
He grew up in poverty and without much of an education.
He was turned away the first time he tried to become a priest.
He was constantly battling some kind of health problem, from pain in the stomach to tumors in his ears.
Some parts of his body could have caused him to worry, but he trusted in God anyway.
At one point, Padre Pio was asked to stop doing most of his priestly work since too many people followed him.
But through it all, Padre Pio followed his own advice.
He didn’t worry about his life.
Over three million people around the world participated in prayer groups started by Padre Pio.

Dear God, thank you for accepting us in your big family of everyone, and help us not to worry and help me to trust you with everything, just like Saint Padre Pio did.
Saint Padre Pio, pray for us.
