Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where we read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.
Let’s get started.
Today is Tuesday, August 11th, and we only have a couple weeks left before school starts.
To wrap up the summer, Miles and I are going to give you a fun rundown of our Italy pilgrimage we took in April.
We had another day in Rome.
We visited the Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran Cathedral.
This is the first Christian church ever built, and it’s where the Pope is the bishop and pastor.
My whole family crawled up the holy stairs on our knees.
It was very painful, but worth it because we did it all for Jesus.
We then did a long tour of the Colosseum.
This was probably one of my favorite bits of the day.
It is such a famous landmark, and it’s cool to see it in person after learning so much about it over the years in history classes and reading books.
Heyo! My favorite part of today’s romp around Rome was definitely the Colosseum.
It’s pretty incredible to see that stuff still around, and some of it is still standing.
Our tour guides told us a lot of different stories that made it pretty seem real in front of us, and she took the time to point specific things out and made sure that we could see the places that she pointed out before we could move on.
It’s still printed to my brain.
Some stories are more sad than others, but it was really cool to be standing inside the history.
