Hello everyone.

Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where we read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.

Let’s get started.

Today is August 7th, and we only have a couple weeks left before school starts.

To wrap up the summer, Miles and I are going to give you a fun rundown of our Italy pilgrimage we took in April.

We had a second day in Assisi.

In the morning, we took a van ride to the top of Mount Subasio and had Mass in the middle of the forest at the Carceri Hermitage.

This is the place where Saint Francis stayed in a cave for prayer and retreat.

We also went to Saint Mary of the Angels, which is where Saint Francis consecrated Saint Clare as the Bride of Christ.

Inside the basilica was the actual very first church that Saint Francis built.

We waited in some long line and walked through it.

The basilica was basically built around the church, and it made it very special.

Some of my favorite spots in Assisi was in the little town of Assisi.

We had really good food, and it was a special feeling because it had a small and local, and the people were so nice there.

Happiness surrounded you.

Heyo! My favorite part about being in Assisi was having a Mass in the woods.

It was fun to have Mass in a different setting, and imagine how Saint Francis loved nature and how he used to say that the creation is a reflection of God.

All the different trees and greenery, and there were so many different bird sounds.

I can see why Saint Francis loved all those things that were created to worship God.

And don’t worry, we definitely made a few gelato stops, one of my favorites because we sat in a quiet alley way to enjoy it.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back next week, Scattering More Flowers.

See ya!
