Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.

Let’s get started! Today is Friday, July 10th, and for the summer weeks, we are going to do the ABCs of our Catholic faith and Saints.

Today is the letter Y, for Yahweh, and the scripture to reflect on is Exodus 3, 14. And God said to Moses, I am who I am, and he said, say this to the sons of Israel, I am has sent me to you. The Bible uses many terms and descriptions for God.

A personal name by which the Israelites referred to him is Yahweh.

The name is based on the Hebrew verb for to be.

The Bible said it means I am who I am, because the Hebrew writing system did not originally include vowels.

The name is written in the Hebrew Bible using only four letters, YHWH. Today’s Saint of the Day is Y, Blessed Yvette.

She was born 1158 and died 1228.

She is the patron saint of brides. Blessed Yvette had not been canonized, but she is considered a saint.

Blessed Yvette was born of a wealthy family of Hugh near Liege in 1158, and when very young was married off by her parents.

Five years and three children later, she was a widow and at a young age of 18.

There was many suitors drawn by her beauty, but Yvette would have none of them.

She dedicated herself 11 years of caring for lepers and surpassing love for God. So whenever you read the word Yahweh, here are some super special things you can think about.

God never had a beginning, and God will never have an end.

Everything that is not God depends totally on God.

He is consistent and the same yesterday, today, and forever.

He is the standard of what is right, what is true, and what is beautiful.

God is the most important in the whole universe.

He is more worthy of interest and attention and admiration. For the last 36 years of her life, Yvette had many mystical experiences.

Her prayers and miracles made her famous.

She succeeded in bringing her father and one of her two remaining children back to the faith and aided the countless people who flocked to consult in her hermitage.

She died on January 13, 1228. Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, you are who you are, and we love you.

And help me to live a life of example.

Blessed Yvette, pray for us.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back next week scattering more flowers.

See ya!
