586. Thursday, May 28, 2026

Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where we read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.

Let’s get started! Today is Thursday, May 28th, and the Gospel reading is Mark 10, 46-52.

And the Scripture to reflect on is Mark 10, 51. The blind man replied to him, Master, I want to see. Bartimaeus was blind, but that didn’t stop him from calling out loudly to Jesus.

People told him to shush and be quiet, but that didn’t stop him from crying out to Jesus. Bartimaeus knew that Jesus would care and that he would cure him. Today, Saint of the Day, Saint Madeline Sophie.

She was born 1779 and died 1865.

She is the patron saint of teachers and schoolgirls. From her earliest years, Madeline Sophie always wanted to belong to God, but the tumult of the French Revolution prevented her from entering the Carmelites. While her brother Louis, who became a priest, taught her Latin, Greek, theology, and much more, the excellent education Sophie received from her brother enabled her to fulfill her dream of educating children. Due to her wisdom and good admiration, Sophie led the Society for the rest of her life.

She knew how to delegate and how to lead the Society. Her main goal was to become sisters in a profound spiritual life, and she would often say, be humble, be simple, and bring joy to others.

When God is the reason for your actions, he will act by his Spirit in you. Do you have a problem that you just want to bring to Jesus?

You shouldn’t be embarrassed.

Just call out to him.

He won’t turn away.

He won’t tell you to be quiet.

He already hears you.

Don’t let anything or anyone stop you.

Jesus is never too busy for us. Because a fire swept through her hometown on the night she was born, friends and family called Sophie a child of fire, but that fire that burned on her heart was deep love for Jesus and desire to often repatriate for sins. We too should all share the love of Jesus, just like Saint Madeline Sophie Bratt did. Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear Jesus, help me to not be too embarrassed to bring my problem to you.

No problem is too big for you. And pray for me that I also have a heart, witnessed to you that others may experience your love. Saint Madeline Sophie Bratt, pray for us.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
