431. Thursday, December 25, 2025

Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily gospels and the saint of the day.

Let’s get started! Today is Thursday, December 25th.

Merry Christmas! And the gospel reading is Luke 2, 1-14.

And the scripture to reflect on is Luke 2, 11.

For today in the city of David, a Savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord.

Before you open gifts and stuff yourself with treats, make sure that your family gets a chance to read and pray through the Nativity story together, and give thanks for the many blessings that have come from Jesus' birth.

And, of course, celebrate! Today is the feast day of the Nativity of Jesus.

The shepherds witnessed a countless number of beautiful angels singing the praises of the King who had just been born.

The shepherds found the baby lying in the manger, just where the angels had said he would be.

The shepherds beheld him, the tiny King, the merciful Savior, the King who loved the entire world.

Remember, Jesus is born.

He is born in our hearts.

He has come for all people.

Let’s join in the angels as they sing Gloria in excelsis Deo.

The story about the shepherds has been told over and over in Christmas carols like the First Noel.

This story is important on this day because Jesus is born.

Hooray! Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus, thank you for your hope, peace, joy, and love.

Help me to never forget that you are the Messiah.

And help me to share the good news about your birth, because today is a truly special day.

And everyone should know about you.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

Merry Christmas.

See ya!
