Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.

Let’s get started! Today is Wednesday, November 26th, and the Gospel reading is Luke 21, 12-19, and the scripture to reflect on is Luke 21, 12. Jesus said to the crowd, they will seize you and persecute you. It can be hard to change a bad habit.

I have a few bad habits that I probably shouldn’t name.

We might even get angry at the people who try to help us with our bad habit. Jesus brought the best news ever.

He told people that they could live a new life of love, but some people didn’t want to give up their old habits and way of life.

They became angry.

They got so angry that they had Jesus killed on the cross. Other people listened to Jesus.

They allowed him to transform them so they could change their lives.

We are given the same choice.

It’s up to us.

We can choose to live in anger and sin, or we can let Jesus help and change our lives and to live in his love. Today’s Saint of the Day is Blessed James Alberoni.

He was born April 4, 1884 and died November 26, 1971.

He is the patron saint of evangelization with modern media. James grew up on a farm in northern Italy.

When asked what he wanted to be when he was older, he told his first grade teacher, I want to be a priest.

As a young seminarian, James experienced a great grace during the night between the 19th and the 20th centuries.

As he prayed before the Blessed Sacrament, he felt a deep personal call from God. He intensely felt Jesus' desire to draw everyone to himself.

James was inspired to see that the church would need apostles to proclaim the gospel using all modern means of communication.

James was ordained a priest in 1907 and soon began teaching at the seminary.

His bishop later asked him to manage the diocesan newspaper.

Though many saw only the dangers of the media, James believed that every new means of communication should be used by the church for evangelization. For this reason, he began the Society of St.

Paul in 1914 and the Daughters of St.

Paul in 1915.

He would go on to add an astounding eight more foundations to the Paulian family.

This prophetic apostle of the media died at the age of 87 after receiving a blessing from St.

Paul VI. When we let Jesus fill every area of our lives, the bad habits will be replaced.

Instead of getting frustrated trying to get these bad things out of our lives, we should concentrate on letting Jesus fill our life.

Just try and remember that when we fail, he succeeds. James' experience before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament as a young seminarian marked the rest of his life.

His spirituality centered on the Eucharist and the Word of God with Mass at the heart of each day.

The religious communications he found all have adoration and an essential aspect of their prayer. Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, we pray that we shall have the Holy Spirit, that you will transform our lives, and that you and Jesus will fill our hearts.

And thank you that we may be able to receive you through the Eucharist every single Sunday.

Blessed James Alberni, pray for us.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.
