441: Friday, November 7, 2025

Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily Gospels and the saint of the day.

Let’s get started! Today is Friday, November 7th, and the Gospel reading is Luke 16, 1-8, and the scripture to reflect on is Luke 16, 4.

But I have said these things to you, that when the hour comes, you may remember what I told you.

Do you have an allowance, or are you old enough to get a job?

Even if you don’t, do you know someone in your family that has a job?

Because most everything has to be paid for, even if that’s not very fun.

Even Jesus preached about it.

Today’s parable is about a man who didn’t want to pay as much as the price, so he switched the rich in price.

Jesus reminded people that everything we have is a gift from God, and nothing should ever come between him and us, our Creator.

Today’s saint of the day is St.

Willie Broward.

He was born 658 and died 739.

He is a patron saint of England and the Netherlands.

Willie Broward grew up in England.

As a young man, he studied to become a priest and a missionary, and he learned about the faith and about the places he would travel.

After he became a priest, Willie Broward was sent to the Netherlands, a land that was then called Frisia.

Willie Broward boldly shared the gospel with the Frisians, and many believed in Jesus.

Then a cruel duke named Radbad conquered much of Frisia.

All the work Willie Broward had done, including building churches, was destroyed by Duke Radbad.

But instead of losing hope, Willie Broward trusted that he would be able to return to his work as long as God willed it.

After the cruel duke died, Willie Broward started all over building churches and sharing the news about Jesus in cities all over Frisia.

We can use things like our talents or time.

We can do special things to give back to God and his people.

Remember, everything that we have is a gift to give back to God.

On one of his missionary journeys, St.

Willie Broward destroyed an idol.

A man who saw it happen was mad about it and tried to kill him.

Thankfully, he was unsuccessful.

St.

Willie Broward started all over because he wanted to do Jesus' will.

We too can be a willing servant of God.

If we pray and study the Bible and talk about God and doing the best we can with our school, these are ways to serve God.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, thank you for all of your blessings.

Help us to glorify you with all that we have.

And help me to do what you lead me to as you will it.

St.

Willie Broward, pray for us.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back next week scattering more flowers.

See ya!
