Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily gospels and the saint of the day.

Let’s get started! Today is Wednesday, October 15th, and the gospel reading is Luke 11, 42-46, and the scripture to reflect on is Luke 11, 44.

Woe to you, for you are like graves which are not seen, and men walk over them without knowing it.

When my mom drops me or my brother off at new things or longer events, she will say, remember who you are, be yourself, and be proud to know that you belong to God.

Jesus was upset with the Pharisees because they were telling people to do things, but they were not willing to do them themselves.

Today’s saint of the day, St.

Teresa of Avila.

She was born 1515 and died in the year 1582.

She is the patron saint of people who have headaches or aren’t writers.

For her whole life, all Teresa wanted was to be a martyr.

She wanted to see Jesus face to face.

When she was 12, her mom died and her father moved them and put her into a convent school until she could get married.

But Teresa wanted to become a nun, so against her father’s wishes, she became a nun and took the name Teresa of Jesus.

But Teresa was bored at the convent and she forgot to pray.

When she was 39 years old, she sensed God’s presence and had a lot of visions.

In the visions, God told her to build monasteries, and so she did.

St.

Teresa of Avila founded 17 monasteries.

Teresa died when she was traveling back from building a monastery, even though she was only 67 years old.

What Jesus wanted for the Pharisees, he wants for us now, to lead by example.

We should always mean what we say and live by what we say.

Even though St.

Teresa struggled sometimes to remember to pray, God still used her to do great things.

She built many monasteries and she had great visions from God.

She asked advice from a priest about how to become a better person of prayer, and he told her to pray to the Holy Spirit.

St.

Teresa tried it and her prayer life changed.

God used her to change the Carmelite ways to help others to convent to the faith.

She was eventually named the Doctor of the Church.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, thank you for being with us.

Help me to live and practice what I preach, and live by a good example.

And help me to take time to pray to the Holy Spirit, so that we can remember that he will guide us and give us peace.

St.

Teresa of Avila, pray for us.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
