Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.

Let’s get started! Today is Thursday, September 18th and the Gospel reading is Luke 7, 36-50 and the scripture to reflect on is Luke 7, 47. Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much, but he who is forgiven little loves little. Let’s play a game to think about how Jesus can be trusted in every life situation.

Answer with never or no way. Jesus will turn his back on his friends.

Never. Satan can make Jesus stop loving us.

Never. There is to earn God’s love.

No way. Because God stops loving us.

Never. Jesus will never turn his back on his friends.

Satan can never make Jesus stop loving us. There is no way to earn God’s love.

Because God never stops loving us. We should try to be loyal people to our friends.

In the scriptures today, we see how Jesus was willing to do hard things to help his friends too. Today’s Saint of the Day is Saint Joseph of Cupertino.

He was born in the year 1603 and died in 1663.

He’s the patron saint of astronauts and pilots. Joseph was born in Cupertino, which is now modern day Italy.

His father was in major debt, so his mother had to give birth to him in a stable.

He was an awkward boy and very clumsy.

He seemed to fail at things.

He tried to be a shoemaker, but it didn’t work out.

He tried to enter the Franciscan religious life, but was refused.

And then the cupchins, but was sent home.

After eight months. He joined the Franciscans again, but he was resigned to the stables.

After many months, he passed the exams.

He was ordained in 1628 and began to experience levitations and ecstasies.

Many people came far to hear mass by him.

He was taken by remote private monastery and he stayed there for his death till 1663. In front of Simon and other important guests, Jesus shows this woman that she is important because of her wanting to repent.

Only God can forgive sin. Joseph was hardworking and full of joy.

He was a prayer person.

Even though he suffered in life, he found his gifts and calling to serve God.

He was humble and faithful to serve God. Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to die on the cross and for forgiving my sins, big or small.

And even though I may fail, help me to find a reason to praise you, to find good things for your glory.

Saint Joseph of Cupertino, pray for us.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya! Bye!
