Hello, everyone.
Heyo.
Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.
Let’s get started.
Today is Wednesday, July 16th, and the Gospel reading is Matthew 11, 25 through 27, and the scripture to reflect on is Matthew 11, 27.
All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son, and many one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
When we pray, we begin and end the prayer with In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Do you know why we say this?
We do this because we know the authority and power of all three persons, the Trinity.
Today’s reflection verse shows us only the Father fully knows the Son, and no one fully knows the Father except the Son.
We cannot become close to with our God Father without Jesus.
Today’s Saint of the Day, Saint Simon Stock.
He lived in the year 1165 and died in the year 1265.
He’s the patron saint of those who wear the brown scapular.
Saint Simon was born in England.
It is said that he became a hermit of the age of 12 and lived many years in tree stump.
After 20 years, Simon felt called by God to join the order of the Carmelite.
He traveled to many places to start monasteries throughout Europe.
The order faced many difficulties.
When the order would go through problems, Saint Simon would kneel in prayer and ask the Blessed Mother to aid him.
On July 16, 1251, Mary appeared to him and gave him the brown scapular as a sign of her protection.
Simon lived a long life, 100 years.
Wow.
The Son, Jesus Christ, is like our middleman, the best listener.
He’s got our back.
That’s why I always close my prayer saying in Jesus' name.
The Father, the Son are so close.
Their relationship is almost impossible to explain, and we will only fully comprehend when we’re in heaven.
But we can also come to know the Father through our relationship with the Son.
When we accept Jesus, he accepts us, and he introduces us to the Father who brings the Holy Spirit.
The brown scapular that Mary gave to Saint Simon can help us think on the Bible’s words of clothes and salvation.
The brown scapular is a sign of salvation that Jesus gave us after dying on the cross for our sins.
It is also a good sign of the protection of our Blessed Mother Mary.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear God, help us to rely on the Trinity, three persons in one, to bring us closer to you in heaven.
And help us to know that Blessed Mother also will protect us daily.
Saint Simon, stop.
Pray for us.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
We’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.
See ya!
