Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily gospels and the saint of the day.

Let’s get started! Today is Monday, June 16th, and the gospel reading is Matthew 5, 38-42, and the scripture to reflect on is Matthew 5, 41.

And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

We work as a family to get the house cleaned up.

We all have our own ways of doing it.

One of us makes piles, one of us makes cleaning a quick frenzy, and one of us likes to be super organized.

Now you know all of our secrets.

Sometimes our mom asks for extra help because there is more to do than usual, or we’re getting the house ready for some guests.

What if I said I cleaned my room?

That’s it.

That’s all I will do.

How rude, right?

Jesus asks us to be generous to go an extra mile.

Today’s saint of the day is St.

John Francis Regis.

He was born in 1597 and died at the age of 43 in 1640.

He’s a patron saint of medical social workers.

He was dedicated to helping those in need find jobs and independence.

John Francis Regis was the son of a wealthy merchant father and a mother of nobility.

As a boy, he was sensitive, devote, and eager to please his parents and teachers.

He was educated by Jesuits from the age of 14, and he devoted his life to catechizing others in the faith.

St.

John Francis Regis had deep compassion to helping the less fortunate and leaving a lasting impact on the communities he served.

How can we be helpful and kind to others?

Did you know that it’s as easy as offering extra help as it is as simple as saying, do you need help?

Or, can I assist you?

We can never be too old to learn more about Jesus and to enjoy deepening our love.

By studying the catechism, St.

John Francis was a good catechism woman, children, and some men.

We should too take time to teach others about our faith.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to have a heart that is willing to help others.

And help us to continue to strengthen our faith and love you.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
