Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.

Let’s get started! Today is Thursday, June 12th, and the Gospel reading is Matthew 5, 20-26, and the scripture to reflect on is Matthew 5, 24.

Leave your gift there before the altar and go.

First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

A couple of weeks ago, when I was playing with my friend, she really hurt my feelings.

It’s a really long story, but I basically went home crying because of something that she and another girl did to me.

But my mom made me go back over and ask her if we could talk about what happened and how it made me feel so I wouldn’t harbor any bitterness.

But you want to know a funny thing?

This last week playing with her was one of the best weeks of playing with her, and I really think that it was because I took the time to fix things between her and I and tell her that the thing that she did wasn’t very nice and didn’t make me feel good.

Today’s Saint of the Day is Blessed Anna Maria Taigi.

She was born May 29, 1769, and died June 9, 1837.

She’s the patron saint of wives and mothers.

Saint Maria Taigi seemed like an ordinary mother, but behind closed doors she lived a very intense prayer life.

Her husband was very difficult to live with and had a lot of rage and anger, but Anna Maria knew how to handle her husband, and they had a holy, lovely marriage, even though it was difficult at times.

When she first got married, she was not close to God but experienced a conversion and became a third-order Trudan.

She developed a good prayer life, and God gave her many gifts like mystical visions and the ability to prophesy the future.

Many people sought her counsel, including the Pope at the time.

Anna Maria always remained focused on God’s will, striving to be holy with prayer, penance, and the love of God for her neighbors.

Jesus talks of the actual killing of another person, but he means even anger and hurtful feelings.

In other words, Jesus wants us to be the kind towards others in action or word or even thought.

Blessed Anna Maria’s love for difficult people can teach us how we can love even those who seem unlovable and make us a true follower of Jesus.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, please give us a heart that forgives people when they hurt us, even though it might be hard, so that we are able to bring our gifts to your service of love.

And Blessed Anna Maria, pray for us so we will show God’s love to all we meet, even if they seem unlovable.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
