325. Thursday, May 29, 2025

Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where we read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.

Let’s get started! Today is Thursday, May 29th, and the Gospel reading is Luke 24, 46-53, and the scripture to reflect on is Luke 24, 51.

While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.

Today is the day that Jesus ascended into heaven.

Can you imagine being one of the disciples and witnessing that event?

I think that I would have had my mouth wide open in disbelief.

Suddenly, a cloud appeared and Jesus was taken up to heaven.

The disciples watched as he disappeared into the clouds.

Jesus promised to prepare a special place for us, and that he will come back for us one day.

Today is the Holy Day of the Ascension of the Lord.

Jesus has completed his work on earth, which was to die for the sins of all of us, and he rose again.

Jesus' ascension was a sign of his victory over sin and death.

He ascended into heaven to be with God.

Even though Jesus isn’t here with us on earth, we know that he is still with us.

Adoration of the Holy Eucharist is a bridge to the love of Christ for our hearts.

While Jesus ascended to heaven, his gaze is still upon us, and through adoration, we can also fix our eyes on him.

Today we should celebrate Jesus' ascension and remember that he has gone ahead of us to make a place ready for us when we die.

We are making lemon meringue pie to celebrate, sunshine yellow for hope and joy, we are to have meet Jesus in heaven, and meringue like the clouds he has taken up in.

Yum, I cannot wait.

Let’s pray the Holy Spirit prayer.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle of them in the fire of your love.

Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and you shall renew the face of the earth.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
