313. Tuesday, May 13, 2025

Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.

Let’s get started! Today is Tuesday, May 13th, and the Gospel reading is John 10, 22-30, and the scripture to reflect on is John 10, 28.

And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.

When we walk around New York City, there are a ton of people, and in order to feel safe or not scared or feel like I’m getting lost, I oftentimes hold my dad’s hand, and when I hold my dad’s hand, I feel a lot safer.

He is stronger and wiser with directions, and I know that he will protect me even just though he’s just simply holding my hand.

Today’s Saint of the Day is Saint Jacinta and Francisco Martin.

Saint Francisco was born June 11, 1908, and Saint Jacinta was born March 11, 1910.

They are the patron saints of Portuguese children.

Jacinta and Francisco are the youngest non-martyrs canonized by the Catholic Church.

They were part of the three children who witnessed the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal.

They spread the important prayer and penance.

Mary had promised to take Francisco and Jacinta to heaven in 1919.

Francisco died a day after receiving her first communion, and Jacinta died one year later.

Jesus will always protect us.

There’s no better place than to be in his hands.

It is where you are safe and feel loved and protected.

Jacinta and Francisco and their cousin were recognized for their heroic devotion to the Virgin Mary and God.

Even though they were young, they had wisdom beyond their years and knew that sin makes God very sad.

They willingly offered up reputation for the sins of the world.

What in your life can you offer up for the good of others?

What can you do to help you grow close to the Blessed Mother and Jesus?

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead our souls to heaven, especially those in the most need of thy mercy.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

Saint Jacinta and Francisco, pray for us.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
