Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.
Let’s get started! Today is Friday, May 9th, and the Gospel reading is John 6, 52-59.
And the scripture to reflect on is John 6, 54.
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
Have you ever heard someone say, you are what you eat?
This means that it is important to eat good food in order to be healthy and fit.
Sometimes when me or my brother ask for extra treats, like cookies or candy, my mom will ask, what did you have that was healthy today?
Sometimes we moan and groan, but if I’m being honest, after we have some carrots or an apple or orange as a snack, we actually do feel better.
Today’s Saint of the Day is Saint Mary Dominica Mozzarella.
Saint Mary was born May 9th, 1837 and died May 14th, 1881.
She is the patroness, sick, and educators.
Saint Mary Dominica Mozzarella grew up working on her family farm.
She always found beauty in God’s creation, and while working in the fields, she was often found singing joyfully to God.
She was physically strong for being a young girl, but even stronger in the spirit.
Saint Mary worked with Saint John Bosco to make the religious group, Daughters of Mary, help of Christians.
She helped girls learn how to sew and spend much time caring and educating poor girls.
Food brings us health and happiness, right?
It fills our stomachs and makes us full.
So does Jesus.
He makes our spiritual life and hearts full, happy, and healthy, ready to do more for him.
Saint Mary Dominica Mozzarella had a small group of girls who learned to sew and turned into a large religious order that had thousands of members to this day.
She also gave her life to God to be used.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear God, help us to remember to fill ourselves up on healthy things, physically and spiritually, so we are satisfied in your love.
And thank you for your beautiful creation that puts songs in our hearts and makes us filled with your love to be able to share with others.
Saint Mary Dominica Mozzarella, pray for us.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
We’ll be back next week.
Scattering More Flowers.
See ya!
