Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where you read the daily gospels and the saint of the day.

Let’s get started!

Today is Wednesday, May 7th, and the gospel reading is John 6, 35-40.

The scripture to reflect on is John 6, 40.

For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

One of my favorite book series are the Chronicles of Narnia.

As land, the island is a mirror image of Jesus, dying and rising from the dead, and teaching the siblings Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy of the promises of eternal life.

In the book called The Last Battle, you learn that as a place they all are isn’t the end.

It’s just beyond.

It’s something greater, something eternal.

It’s one of my favorite parts, with a little mouse named Reepycheep.

Today’s saint of the day is Saint Rose Venerini.

Saint Rose was born February 9th, 1656, and died May 7th, 1728.

We celebrate her feast day today, May 7th.

Saint Rose, patron saint of education of girls and young women.

Saint Rose loved to help girls learn about Jesus and Mary.

She used to gather the women and girls of the neighborhood to say the rosary together in the evenings.

She would take time to teach them more about the Catholic faith and how important it was to live a holy life.

How cool is that?

Today, think of the song we sometimes sing at Mass.

I will raise you up on the last day.

If we believe in Jesus, we will have eternal life.

Jesus said so himself, that he will raise us up on the last day.

Today, as you think of Saint Rose Venerini, you can say a decade of the rosary to pray for help in living a more holy life, and maybe find a way to thank your OCIA teacher, even if it was a long time ago.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, we are so thankful that we have eternal life to look forward to.

Thank you for giving us your son to die so we can go to heaven.

And help us to want to continue to learn more about you so I can help others to grow in faith in you.

Saint Rose Venerini, pray for us.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow scattering more followers.

See ya!
