Hello everyone! Heyo! Welcome back to Scattering Flowers with Elise and Miles, a podcast where we read the Daily Gospels and the Saint of the Day.

Let’s get started! Today is May 1st, and the Gospel reading is John 3, 31 through 36.

The scripture to reflect on is John 3, 36.

He who believes in the Son has eternal life.

He who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests on him.

Jesus died on the cross for your sins.

When he rose from the grave, it proved that he has power over death.

So amazing! And lucky for us, when we have the life of God in you, you are never to be separated from God.

Today’s Saint of the Day is Saint Peregrine Laziosi.

Saint Peregrine was born in 1260 and died May 1st, 1345.

We celebrate his feast day today, May 1st.

He is the patron saint of cancer patrons and any other serious illness.

Saint Peregrine suffered from cancer in his leg.

He was supposed to get his leg amputated.

That night before surgery, he had a vision of Jesus coming off of the cross and touching the cancer spot on his leg.

When he went in for his surgery the next day, the doctors were amazed and couldn’t find any cancer.

After his death 20 years later, miracles and healing were credited to his intercession.

Saint Peregrine teaches us to trust in God.

We are never alone.

God is always there with us.

We should want to be like Jesus and help those who don’t know Jesus.

God wants all of us to go to heaven.

Jesus has the power to give eternal life to all who believe in him.

So today, can you think of someone who needs to know that Jesus loves them, died for them, and offers eternal life?

And like Saint Peregrine, we need to pray like it’s the most important thing in your life.

Miracles still can happen and have hope because God loves us.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, we thank you for your love, a love that’s so great you gave your only Son so that we could have eternal life.

And we also pray for those who are sick.

Help them to trust for a healing miracle or peace of God.

Saint Peregrine Laziosi, pray for us.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

We’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
