Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.

Let’s get started! Today is Monday, April 7th, and we will be reading John 8, 12-20.

Follow on your Bible if you have one.

Now, let’s read John 8, 12-20.

Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world.

He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

The Pharisees then said to him, You are bearing witness to yourself, if your testimony is not true.

Jesus answered, Even if I do bear witness to myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I have come from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.

You are judged according to the flesh, I judge no one.

Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone that judge, but I and he who sent me.

In your law it is written that the testimony of two men is true.

I bear witness to myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness to me.

They said to him before, Where is your father?

Jesus answered, You know neither me for my father.

If you knew me, you would know my father also.

These words he spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple, but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come. One of my most favorite hobbies is reading.

I read a lot before bed, and usually stop when I can’t keep my eyes open anymore.

But since it’s night, and I’m snuggled in bed, I have to read with my lamp on.

If I do not have a lamp, then it would be dark and I cannot see the words on the page.

Today’s reading is sort of like this.

It’s saying that Jesus is the light of the world.

If we didn’t have him to shine, the right way of living it would be dark, kind of like reading with my lamp on.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, help us to never forget that you are the light of the world, and without you, we cannot live.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
