281. Friday, March 28, 2025

Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily gospels together.

Let’s get started! Today is Friday, March 28th, and we will be reading Mark 12, 28 through 34.

Follow along your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Mark 12, 28 through 34.

And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, Which commandment is the first of all?

Jesus answered, The first is, Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.

The second is, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

There is no other commandment greater than these.

And the scribe said to him, You are right, teacher, you have truly said that he is the one, and there is no other but he.

And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burned offerings and sacrifices.

And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, You are not far from the kingdom of God.

And after that, no one dared to ask him any question.

Today’s reading reminds us that the most important thing is to listen to God’s love with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

It made me think, how can I be a better listener to God and love God with all my heart, mind, and strength?

Because life sometimes just gets so busy, and then that makes it easy to come up with excuses not to make God a first priority.

Maybe we need to take time in the morning, first thing to pray like the day starts, or maybe make a time to pray before bedtime, and spend time in quietness before God, so he can and will fill our heart, mind, and soul with his love for us.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, please help us to make time for you.

Fill our mind, heart, and soul with your love.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back next week scattering more flowers.

See ya!
