Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.
Let’s get started.
Today is Thursday, March 27th and we’ll be reading Luke 11, 14-23.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Luke 11, 14-23.
Now, he was casting out a demon that was mute.
When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke, and the people marveled.
But some of them said, he casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons.
While others to test him sought from him a sign from heaven.
But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and house falls upon house.
And if Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand?
For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.
And if I cast them out by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out?
Therefore, they shall be your judges.
But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace.
But when one stronger than he assails him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted and divides his spoil.
He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.
Can you imagine if you have gone about your whole entire life not being able to talk?
Let’s be honest, we all love to talk, especially with the people we enjoy to be around, like our family members or our best friends, or like me, my family, aka my brother, who is my best friend.
Anyway, imagine not being able to talk your entire life.
And just because you were able to express to Jesus in the moment that you believed that he was able to heal you, Jesus did.
What do you think you would act like after that?
It would probably be an odd sensation to suddenly be able to talk, but you would probably be really happy and start up a conversation.
Then, on top of it, Jesus was being accused of casting the demon out of that man with the help of Satan.
Ew! If I was there, I would have started praising Jesus with the mute man.
I am feeling so blessed during this Lent season, growing closer to Jesus, so I can learn all these important and fun facts that make my faith stronger, knowing that Jesus is truth.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear Jesus, during this Lent season, help my faith, and for us not to be mute, and praise your name to all.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow to scatter more flowers.
See ya!
