Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Wednesday, March 26th, and we will be reading Matthew 5, 17-19.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 5, 17-19.
Do not think that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets.
I have come not to abolish them, but to fulfill them.
For truly I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not a iota, not a dot will pass from the law until all is accomplished.
Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven.
But he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
What if there were no traffic laws?
Well, good thing there are.
If there weren’t, you could get really hurt.
Like if someone was having a bad day and not paying attention and ran a red light, they could get in a car crash.
Or what if there were no stop signs or a crosswalk?
Well, that would probably not be easy to cross the street.
Jesus was explaining that in today’s reading, he was saying that there are rules here on earth to keep us safe and for us to grow and learn in our faith.
But once we get to heaven, we will be surrounded by goodness and like-minded people so we don’t have to worry about bad days or who isn’t following the rules.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear God, help me to continue to ground my faith and follow the rules put in place on earth so I can do good for you.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
