Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.

Let’s get started! Today is Monday, March 24th, and we’ll be reading Luke 4, 24 through 30.

Fall along your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Luke 4, 24 through 30.

And he said, Truly I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his own country.

But in truth, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months, when there came a great famine over all the land, and Elijah was sent to none of them, but only to Zarephath in the land of Sidion, to a woman who was a widow.

And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Cyrene.

When they heard this, all the synagogue were filled with wrath, and they rose up and put him out of the city and led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw him down headlong.

But passing through the midst of them, he went away.

In today’s reading, Jesus reminded the listeners and us of Elijah and Elisha, prophets who helped others.

Don’t you think it’s cool that God doesn’t just help his own people?

He helps everyone.

God’s love is for the whole world.

Even though the people got angry and didn’t like what Jesus was preaching, Jesus got away safely so he could share the good news with others that wanted to hear what he had to say.

He didn’t stop sharing God’s love, and I don’t think we should either.

Can you think of someone who needs to know that we are loved by God?

Take time this week to share God’s love with a good deed, a smile, or even a hug.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, thank you that your love is for the whole world, and that you make us feel safe and loved.

Help us to be willing to share that with others, and not to be shy, even if they don’t accept it.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
