Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.

Let’s get started! Today is Wednesday, March 19th, and we will be reading Matthew 1, 16, 18-21, and 24.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Matthew 1, 16, 18-21, and 24.

And Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way, when his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph.

Before they came together she was found to be a child of the Holy Spirit.

And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to send her away quietly.

But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him.

He took his wife.

Today is the feast day of Saint Joseph.

Joseph loved Jesus very much.

He did his best to make sure that Jesus was cared for.

Joseph was very worried when one day Jesus stayed behind in the temple.

He and Mary couldn’t find him.

Joseph obeyed God his whole life, even when he did not understand what was being asked of him, like when he had a dream and the angel told him to marry Mary, or when he followed the opposite directions to go home to avoid King Herod.

He had strong faith believing that God would protect him.

So when Joseph protected and cared for Mary and Jesus, Let us pray.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

O glorious Saint Joseph, spouse of the Virgin Mary, and foster father of Jesus, I come before you with humble hearts, seeking your intercession.

Guide us on our path, protect our families, and help us to live lives of faith and service as you did.

Saint Joseph, pray for us.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
