Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Thursday, March 13th, and we’ll be reading Matthew 7, 7-12.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 7, 7-12.
Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives, and he who seeks, finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone, or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father, who is in heaven, give good things to those who ask him?
So whatever you wish that man would do to you, do so to them, for this is the law and the prophets.
Today’s reading is about something called the Golden Rule.
You went to others, what would you have them do to you?
We just moved into a new neighborhood.
We’ve been having a lot of fun in the afternoons meeting with the neighbor kids.
A lot of them are really little, toddlers and baby age, but there are a few that my brother and I like to play with that are our school age, but they are all a lot younger than me.
Not that that’s bad, but sometimes I come home a little frustrated, because they can be young and sassy with their attitudes.
However, I still like to play with them, because I like to be nice.
I hope I make Jesus proud by following the Golden Rule.
If you want someone to be kind to you, be kind to them too.
If you want someone to share with you, share their toys, or help when they need it.
Don’t be mean, or do things that would make you feel bad if someone did them to you.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to be kind to everyone that we meet, and for us all to follow the Golden Rule.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.
See ya! It’s so cool!
