Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.

Let’s get started! Today is Wednesday, March 12th, and we will be reading Luke 11, 29-32.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Luke 11, 29-32.

When the crowds were increasing, he began to say, This generation is an evil generation.

It seeks a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah.

For as Jonah became a sign to the men of Nineveh, so will the Son of Man be to this generation.

The Queen of the South will arise at the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn it.

For she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon.

And behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

The men of Nineveh will arise at the judgment with this generation, and condemn it.

For they repented at the preaching of Jonah.

And behold, something greater than Jonah is here.

My mom makes a monthly calendar that hangs on our fridge so that we know what’s going on each week for our schedule.

She does it a whole lot, and when it gets close to the end of the month, she starts getting a new month ready.

Guess what?

She put on the next month’s calendar that she started prepping our parish night of reconciliation and confessions.

Eek! I’m already nervous.

I don’t know why I get nervous, because I feel so much better after I go to confession.

In today’s reading, Jesus calls the people wicked and evil generation, because they ask for a sign.

Jesus is God’s sign.

The whole reason of the Easter season was because Jesus died and rose again, for us.

So if you’re nervous like me to go to confession for this Lent season, just remember that we don’t need any more signs.

Jesus came for us out of love.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, thank you for Jesus, our sign, and help us not to be nervous for our penance.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
