Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Wednesday, March 5th, and we will be reading Matthew 6, 1-6, and 16-18.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 6, 1-6, and 16-18.
Let’s read Matthew 6, 1-6.
Let’s read Matthew 6, 1-6.
I know, I know, I keep talking about Lent.
I think it’s probably because I’m trying to convince myself that I can do it.
You can do it too! I can make it through these 40 days.
You can too.
We are in it together.
When I read today’s reading, it made me realize that doing the three things, prayer, almsgiving, and fasting, is important to me to do, but not for me to make sure everyone knows I am.
We don’t have to broadcast or shout it from a mountain, but know that I am fasting something, whether it’s candy, TV, time, or anything I can think I overuse.
I choose to fast them because if I cut these out for Lent, that gives me more time and room for God.
Cut distractions and other things that distract you, so you can be more helpful on Jesus.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to do good this Lent, and always remember you who died on the cross for us.
Help us to make room for you.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
