Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Tuesday, January 28th, and we will be reading Mark 3, 31-35.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Mark 3, 31-35.
And his mother and his brethren came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him.
And a crowd was sitting about him, and they said to him, Your mother and your brethren are outside asking for you.
And he replied, Who are my mother and my brethren?
And looking around on those who sat about him, he said, Here are my mother and my brethren, and whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.
My mom has four siblings, well actually she has five, but one of her sisters isn’t blood, she has a little sis that is someone she mentors, and she is super close to, and even her two sons are her nephews, so they call each other sister.
Jesus taught that we are part of a spiritual family.
We have more than just the family members we live in, we also have a spiritual family rooted in God.
How exciting! We have two families, our home family and a spiritual family, which is the church.
Both families are given to us from God.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for protecting and abiding for us.
You are our family, Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening, I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers, see ya!
