Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Monday, January 27th, and we will be reading Mark 3, 22-30.
And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, He who is possessed by Beelzebul, and by the prince of demons, he casts out the demons.
And he called them to him and said to them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
If the kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
And as Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.
And no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods unless he first binds a strong man, then, indeed, he may plunder his house.
Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven, the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter.
But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of eternal sin.
For they had said, He has an unclean spirit.
Have you ever heard the saying, there is no I in team?
Do you know what that means?
You can’t be on a team with yourself.
You can’t spell team using an I.
Just a few weeks ago, my dad showed us a movie he watched when he was our age, Miracle on Ice.
It’s the story of a men’s hockey Olympic team.
They were underdogs, but started playing together and won gold.
This is similar to what Jesus is saying in today’s reading about a house being divided, if divided against itself, cannot stand.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear God, help us to not be selfish, and to work together as a team, and to choose You as our coach.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.
See ya!
