Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Tuesday, January 21st, and we will be reading Mark 2, 23-28.
On Sabbath he was going through the grain fields, and as they made their way, his disciples began to pluck heads of grain.
And the Pharisees said to him, Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?
And he said to them, Have you ever read what David did when he was in need and was hungry?
He and those who were with him, how he entered the house of God, and Abathar was high priest, and ate the shewbread, which is not lawful for any but the priests who eat, and also gave it to those who were with him.
And he said to them, The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
So the Son of Man is Lord, even on the Sabbath.
My parents don’t do much on Sundays.
I don’t mean that in a rude way, I mean that we treat Sunday as a true Sabbath.
No chores, no shopping, just quiet time in the morning to prepare our minds for Mass.
And finally time after Mass.
Things that make us have a deeper relationship with Jesus, when Jesus said, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.
He meant that the Sabbath is a gift from God.
It’s a day to rest and rejuvenate, and to honor God.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear God, help us to always honor you by going to Mass and taking breaks on Sundays, and most of all, praying.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.
See ya! Bye! Bye!
