210. Thursday, January 16, 2025

Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.

Let’s get started! Today is Thursday, January 15th and we’ll be reading Mark 1, 40th through 45.

Follow along your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Mark 1, 40 through 45.

But he went out and began to talk freely about it and spread the news so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in the country and the people came to him from every quarter.

We can touch and feel lots of things.

A pillow feels smooth, a stone you can sense is hard, a pine cone is sharp and may prick your finger.

Sometimes we don’t touch something creepy like a slug or a bug or because it’s too hot or cold or too dirty.

In today’s reading, we read about the importance of touch.

A man with leprosy came to Jesus and asked him to be healed.

Jesus touched the man in two ways.

He touched him with his hand and he touched him with his love.

We can touch others in our love, collecting food for people who are hungry, sending cards or visiting older people who are homebound, being a good friend when we love others.

As Jesus loved, we can be touched and healed by that love.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, help us to love each other so they will be touched by your kindness.

Amen.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
