209. Wednesday, January 15, 2025

Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.

Let’s get started! Today is Wednesday, January 15th, and we’ll be reading Mark 1, 29-39.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Mark 1, 29-39.

And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons.

And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.

And in the morning, a great while day before day, he rose and went out to the lonely place, and there he prayed.

And Simon and those who were with him followed.

And they found him and said to him, Everyone is searching for you.

And he said to them, Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach here also.

For that is why I came out.

And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues, and casting out demons.

Let’s play a game.

Write the letters in the word HELP.

Under each letter, write the words beginning with that letter that describe Jesus.

I came up with these.

H for Helper and Healer, E for Emmanuel, God with us, and Example.

L for Love and Leader, and P for Provider and Protector.

Like in today’s reading, how he was healing and helping others, Jesus came to help us because he loves us.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, thank you for always being near to help us in our bodies and souls when they are sick.

Help us to remember the importance of making time to be with you, so that we follow your voice.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya! Thank you!
