Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

I’m so happy to be with you reading the Daily Gospels together.

Let’s get started! Today is Tuesday, December 24th, and we will be reading Luke 1, 67-79.

Follow along in the Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Luke 1, 67-79.

And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel! For he has visited and redeemed his people, and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David.

For as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old, that we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us, to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant, the oath which he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.

And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins.

Through the tender mercy of our God, when the day shall dawn upon us from on high, to give light to those who sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Try and think about this.

You haven’t been able to talk for many, many months.

You keep thinking about an angel that visited, you have a brand new baby son, and suddenly you are able to talk again?

What is the first thing you would do?

Would you give a big woohoo?

Would you laugh?

Would you find your family and throw a party?

Maybe a karaoke party?

The first thing Zechariah did before being able to speak was to praise God.

We should try and be more like him, and take time to praise God whenever and wherever we are.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, our prayer is simply today.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
