Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.

Let’s get started! Today is Friday, December 13th, and we will be reading Matthew 11, 16-19.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Matthew 11, 16-19.

But to what shall I compare this generation?

It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their playmates, We piped to you, and you did not dance.

We wailed, and you did not mourn.

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has demon.

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners, yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.

I have this really cool book called Light of the Saints.

It has these sort of see-through pages where you shine a flashlight through the back of it and images show up while it’s telling that saint’s story.

I thought of this book today when I was looking through today’s readings.

Jesus talks about that no matter what He and John the Baptist do, some people will be negative.

In the Psalms, the response says those who follow the Lord will have the light of life.

Like my Light of the Saints book, we need to let God’s light and love shine through us and make sure we listen to Jesus' teachings.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, help your light to shine through me so that I will follow you with my whole heart.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back next week scattering more flowers.

See ya!
