Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the Daily Gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Wednesday, December 11th, and we’ll be reading Matthew 11, 28-30.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Matthew 11, 28-30.
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
What do you put in a purse or bag to go out for the day?
Don’t you put in your wallet, maybe some mints, kleenexes, chapstick?
All of these things are small and light.
You don’t fill your bag or purse with rocks or a pile of bricks, do you?
No, because that would be way too heavy to lug around.
That’s what a burden would feel like to carry around, and to carry that around all by yourself would be very hard.
Jesus is our helper and will help carry our burdens or worries if we let Him.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear God, help us to remember that Jesus said, Come, I will give you rest.
Help us to let Him care for us.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
