Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily gospels together.

Let’s get started! Today is Monday, December 9th and we will be reading Luke 1, 26-35.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Luke 1, 26-35.

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph of the house of David.

And the virgin’s name was Mary.

And he came to her and said, Hail, full grace, the Lord is with you.

But she was greatly troubled at the seeing and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be.

And the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor in God.

And behold, you will conceive in your room and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.

And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David.

And he will reign over the house of Jacob forever.

And of his kingdom there will be no end.

And Mary said to the angel, How can this be, since I have no husband?

And the angel said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.

Therefore the child will be born, will be called holy, the Son of God.

I’m going to give you some instructions.

I want you to try and follow.

Can you wiggle your nose, but without moving any other part of your face?

Clap your hands, but only use one hand.

And one more.

Can you give your elbow a kiss?

Some of these things can seem impossible, which might make it hard to follow these instructions.

God can do all things for us if we are willing to let him.

Just like Mary simply accepting God’s instructions.

God does all the work if we allow him to.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for making the impossible things possible.

And thank you for our mother Mary and that she said yes.

We love you.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow.

Scattering more flowers.

See ya!
