Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Friday, November 29th, and we’ll be reading Luke 21, 29-33.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Luke 21, 29-33.
And he told them a parable, look at the fig tree and all the trees.
As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves, and know that the summer is already near.
So also, when you see these things taking place, you also know that the kingdom of God is near.
Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all has taken place, heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
In the summertime, me and my family go to vacation spots that always have hiking areas.
We love to hike.
We all have our own special hiking backpacks, so we can be prepared with snacks, water, compasses, a safety whistle, a flashlight for hikes in the dark, and other miscellaneous things.
Look at how Jesus uses the fig leaves and how summertime is near.
He teaches us we need to be ready.
This seems like a theme that we’ve been reading about all week.
Today’s reading made me think of my backpack.
The flashlight is like Jesus, he is the light of the world.
Prayer is our compass, he leads us when things are getting rough.
And the Bible is like water and snacks, it is nourishment for our soul.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for Jesus who leads our way.
Help me to stay on the right path.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back next week scattering more flowers.
See ya!
