Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Tuesday, November 19th, and we’ll be reading Luke 19, 1 through 10.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Luke 19, 1 through 10.
So he looked up and said to him, Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for I must stay at your house today.
So he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully.
And when they saw it, they all murmured, He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.
And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I am restored fourfold.
And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham, for the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
I’m noticing a theme in the readings lately.
Have you?
In today’s reading, people could not believe that Jesus would go to the home of a man like Zacchaeus.
Jesus changed Zacchaeus.
That’s the theme I’ve noticed.
He knew everything Zacchaeus had ever done.
When Zacchaeus met Jesus, his life was changed.
It doesn’t matter if you are short or tall.
Jesus knows your name too.
And Jesus knows everything about you.
He loves us even when we aren’t perfect.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear God, thank you that you know our names and our hearts.
Thank you for loving us.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya.
Bye.
