Hello everyone! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily Gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Thursday, November 14th, and we will be reading Luke 17, 20-25.
Follow along your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Luke 17, 20-25.
Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, he answered them, The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed, nor will they say, Behold, here it is, or there, for behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.
And he said to the disciples, The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.
And they will say to you, Behold there, or behold here, do not go, do not follow them.
For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man in his day.
But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
A lot of you know this already, that I’m homeschooled.
I really, really like it, because sometimes the school day can be really long, like till 3 or 4 o’clock, and some days it can be super short and I can be done with all my school lessons and work by lunchtime.
Sometimes in those days that go a little longer, it’s because the subject I’m learning is new, or a little tough, or maybe even super interesting.
The things I’m learning are super interesting.
The thing about my mom being my teacher is that sometimes, since she’s my teacher and my mom, she sometimes makes me figure out things longer on my own, because she doesn’t turn mom mode on and just give me the answers.
Today’s reading is kind of like that too.
Jesus is teaching about the Kingdom of God.
The Pharisees ask when the Kingdom of God will come, and Jesus explains to his disciples how it will come, and he even talked on where it will come.
Jesus' teaching isn’t full of details.
I bet the disciples wished he could have just gave them all the answers, but he didn’t.
That must have made their school day even longer.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Dear God, help me to try and live my life so I’m ready and hopeful for Jesus to come.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
