Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily gospels together.
Let’s get started! Today is Wednesday, November 13th, and we will be reading Luke 17, 11-19.
On the way to Jerusalem, he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee, and as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
When he saw them, he said to them, Go and show yourselves to the priests.
And as they went, they were cleansed.
One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks.
Now he was a Samarian.
When Jesus said, Were not ten cleansed?
Where are the nine?
Was no one found to return and give praise to God except for this foreigner?
And he said to him, Rise and go your way.
Your faith has made you well.
I hate being sick.
When I’m sick, I like my mom to care for me and snuggle up on the couch with a cozy blanket and watch movies.
I do not like taking medicine, but it can make you feel better, so I get through it.
Back in Bible times, when people got leprosy, people didn’t even want to touch you or be near you.
Imagine being so sick, but you’re totally ignored, even cast out of places because you’re considered unclean.
No one even cares for you to help you feel better.
Jesus healed these lepers, and only one said thank you, and a man from out of town.
He turned around and remembered to thank Jesus for healing him.
We need to remember to have gratitude and not forget to give God thanks for His blessings.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Thank you, God, for giving us all that we have.
Help us to serve you, even when things are difficult.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.
See ya!
