Hello everyone, my name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
I’m so happy to be with you reading the daily gospels together.
Let’s get started.
Today is Friday, November 8th, and we’ll be reading Luke 16, 1-8.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Luke 16, 1-8.
He also said to the disciples, There was a rich man who had a steward, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his goods.
And he called him and said to him, What is this that I hear about you?
Turn in the account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.
And the steward said to himself, What shall I do, since my master has taken my stewardship away from me?
And I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg.
I will decide what to do, so that my people may receive me into their houses when I am put out of the stewardship.
So summoning his master’s debitors, one by one, he said to the first, How much do you owe my master?
He said, A hundred measures of oil.
And he said to them, Take your bill and sit down quietly and write fifty.
Then he said to another, And how much do you owe?
He said, A hundred measures of wheat.
He said to him, Take your bill and write eighty.
The master commanded the dishonest steward for his prudence.
For the sons of this world are wiser in their own generation than the sons of light.
Do you have a job or get an allowance?
Even if you don’t, someone in your family must have a job, because most everything has to be paid for, even if that’s not very fun.
Even Jesus preached about it.
Today’s parable is about a man who didn’t want to pay as much as the price, so he switched the written price.
Jesus reminded people that everything we have is a gift from God, and that nothing at all should ever come between us and Him.
We can use other things like our talents or time.
You can volunteer or sing in choir for Mass or give in a special offering.
We can do special things that give back to God and His people.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank You for all of Your blessings.
Help us to glorify You with all we have.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back next week scattering more flowers.
See ya!
