150. Thursday, October 24, 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back! My name is Elise Brooklyn, and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Thursday, October 24th, and we will be reading Luke 12, 49-53.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Luke 12, 49-53.

I came to cast fire upon the earth, and would that it would already been kindled.

I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how I am constrained until it is accomplished.

Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth?

No, I tell you, but rather division.

For henceforth in one house there will be five divided, three against two, and two against three.

They will be divided father against son, and son against father, mother against daughter, and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

This scripture definitely isn’t the most happy of ones we’ve read.

I read it with my mom, and we decided Jesus must have been a little upset at the disciples.

I giggled when I talked through it, saying, I can imagine Jesus smacking his head as he blows out a deep breath of frustration.

He was explaining that families will be separated because what is more important than our family ancestry is the family of God.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, thank you for being our family, and that we’ll be together if you worship you together.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.

See ya!
