Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Thursday, September 26th and we will be reading Luke 9, 7-9.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Luke 9, 7-9.
Now Herod the Tetchark heard of all that was done and he was perplexed because it was said by some that John had been raised from the dead, by some that Elijah had appeared, and to others that one of the old prophets had risen.
Herod said, John I beheaded, but who is this about whom I hear such things?
And he sought to see him.
I would hate to be named Herod.
That name just has a bad taste to it.
First we hear about King Herod when Jesus was born.
He was the guy who wanted to kill all the baby boys.
And now we hear the story of the next King Herod who beheaded John the Baptist.
Imagine if that was you.
You killed John the Baptist and now you are hearing stories of a certain man who was doing miracles.
You might be scared that John the Baptist has come back from the dead.
Or would you want to meet him?
Because you want to know if it’s really him.
Today’s gospel is important because I think it’s saying that it is important that people wonder who we are.
Because we are trying to live good values out as being a Christian and make people curious and want to know more about who Jesus is.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to live my life out in good ways so that people will see Jesus in me.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
