Hello everyone! Welcome back! My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Wednesday, September 25th and we will be reading Luke 9, 1-6.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Luke 9, 1-6.
And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over demons and to cure diseases and sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal.
And he said to them, Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money, and do not have two tunics.
And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart.
And whatever they do, do not receive you.
When you leave that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.
And they departed and went through the villages preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.
For my tenth birthday, my parents surprised me with a trip.
I didn’t know we were going at all.
I thought we were going to the bookstore like we had planned the night before.
But when we got on the freeway, my parents told me with excitement.
But here’s the kicker.
My dad surprised my mom even more with the extra night for their anniversary.
And my grandparents came too.
But my mom didn’t know about that extra part, so she had only packed enough clothes for the couple of days and not the extra night stay.
It ended up being fine.
But this Bible reading made me think of this trip.
Because Jesus told the disciples to take nothing.
My mom and me and my brother were worried about one extra day with no extra clothes.
Can you imagine what went through the disciples' heads?
I think if we remember that Jesus is enough, He can use us for anyone for His glory.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to fully trust in You to supply all our needs and do what You want us to do.
Amen.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back tomorrow scattering more flowers.
See ya!
