Hello everyone, welcome back.
My name is Elise Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.
Today is Friday, September 20th, and we will be reading Luke 8, 1-3.
Follow along in your Bible if you have one.
Now let’s read Luke 8, 1-3.
Soon afterwards he went on through the cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God.
And the twelve were with him, and also some women, who had been healed from evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chesa, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their means.
I think I have told you guys this before, but my brother is my best friend.
I know it might sound normal, because he’s my brother, and I have to be his friend, but he really truly is my best friend.
I miss him when we’re not hanging out, and he and I have talked about it before, and he feels the exact same way.
He used to sometimes think it was weird having his sister as a friend because I’m a girl, but it really doesn’t matter to him anymore, because we really just like being around each other and doing things together.
I thought about this when I read about the women in today’s Gospel reading.
Jesus did not do things normal for the custom of His time.
He had a friendship with women that followed Him with the twelve disciples.
All that mattered is they all wanted to serve Him.
Let’s pray.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to remember that all that matters is serving You.
It doesn’t matter as long as we love You and do good for You.
Jesus' name, Amen.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Thank you so much for listening.
I’ll be back next week scattering more flowers.
See ya!
