111. Friday, September 13, 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elyse Brooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Friday, September 13th and we will be reading Luke 6, 39-42.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Luke 6, 39-42.

He also told them a parable.

Can a blind man lead a blind man?

Will they not both fall into a pit?

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone, when he is fully taught, will be like his teacher.

Why do you see the speck that is on your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

Or how can you say to your brother, brother, let me take you the speck that is in your eye, when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye, you hypocrite.

First take the log out of your own eye and then you will see clearly to take the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

This reading made me think of a Disney cartoon I saw a while ago.

It’s called The Three Blind Mouseketeers.

It’s pretty much the story of the three blind mice smelling their way to the cheese, where a big cat has set up a mouse trap inside the wheel of cheese and other traps.

In the end, the cat gets caught in the trap before running away.

This is what Jesus is saying.

Before we can point out or tattle on someone else for their wrong or sin, we’ve noticed in them, we have to look out for the sin that creeps and hides into our hearts and gets forgiveness for that before pointing fingers on someone else’s heart.

Or we will be like that cat, whimpering and whining out the window because we got cat in our own trap.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to change anything we need to in our lives so that you can make us more and more like you without sin.

Thank you for your love.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back next week scattering more flowers.

See ya! It’s so cool!
