Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Evie Sbrooklyn and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Thursday, September 12th and we will be reading Luke 6, 27-38.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Luke 6, 27-38.

But I say to you that here, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you, to him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your cloak as well.

Give to everyone who begs from you, and of him who takes away your goods, do not ask them again.

And as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them.

If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?

For even sinners love those who love them.

And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that for you?

For even sinners do the same.

And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you?

Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, accepting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High.

For he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish.

Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

Judge not, and you will not be judged.

Condemn not, and you will not be condemned.

Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Give, and it will be given to you.

Good measure pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.

For the measure you give will be the measure you get back.

Do you like pie?

Mmm, I love apple pie.

It’s my favorite.

Wanna know something?

My dad and my grandma like cheddar cheese meltin' on top of their apple pie.

I think it’s crazy taste combo.

But hey, that’s okay.

It’s tasty to them.

My dad says it makes a flavor sensation.

Sweet and salty, spicy and flavorful.

Today, Jesus has a strange combo too.

You may think, why do we have to love our enemies and pray for those who hurt us?

What does it mean?

God wants us to be kind to others, even if they are not to us.

It’s easy to love someone who loves you or is nice to you.

But when we are able to be nice to people who aren’t so nice to us, that truly shows the love that God has for us.

Jesus died for us when we did nothing to deserve it, when we were still sinners.

So we should show that kind of love for others around us.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, please help us to love others even if they are kind to us or not.

Thank you for loving us even when we don’t deserve this.

In Jesus' name, amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back tomorrow, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
