101. Friday, August 30, 2024

Hello everyone, welcome back.

My name is Elise Bucklin and this is Scattering Flowers, a podcast where we scatter flowers of faith.

Today is Friday, August 30th, and we will be reading Matthew 25, 1-13.

Follow along in your Bible if you have one.

Now let’s read Matthew 25, 1-13.

Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten maidens, who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.

Five of them were foolish and five were wise, for the foolish took their lamps.

They took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps.

As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

But the midnight there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom, come out to meet him.

Then all those maidens rose and trimmed their lamps.

But the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.

But the wise replied, Perhaps there will be not enough for us and for you.

Go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.

Afterwards the other maidens also came, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

But he replied, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.

Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

Every time we go on vacation, my mom makes sure to pack a first aid kit and extra medicine, just in case something happens, because we might not know where the closest hospital is, in case of emergency.

She also is pretty good at having a snack and water bottle ready to go, even if we’re headed to the library or on a quick errand, she always says, just in case.

Jesus wants us to be prepared for His return, whenever it will be.

How do we do that?

By praying and reading the Bible.

We also should attend Mass and go to confession.

Let’s pray.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, dear God, help us to be ready and excited for when you come back.

Thank you for your love.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Thank you so much for listening.

I’ll be back next week, scattering more flowers.

See ya!
